Lakshadweep Sanitation and Conservancy Bye-Law, 1998.

The use of Plastic/Polythene carry bags for packing and carrying of   consumer goods are prohibited in the U.T.of Lakshadweep as per the   said bye law, considering its impact on the soil, water and marine ecosystem of the islands. The violation of the provisions of the law is  punishable with a fine of Rs.100/-
