700 passenger cum 160 MT cargo ship

            The ship  under construction at Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Visakhapatnam,  Andra Pradesh, India  at an estimated cost of Rs.129.64 crores. The ship is expected to be delivered during 2004. The Ship has been name as "M.V. Kavaratti". The Salient features of the new ship is as follows:

                 The above marine crafts are being constructed at Kavaratti by different firms based in mainland as well as local firms. One mooring boat and one search and rescue tug are being constructed by the local firm- Madeena Industries. Two Passenger boats and one passenger launch are being constructed by Sulkha Shipyard Kannoor District ,Kerala. The two dumb barges are constructed by Bharat Engineering Works, Arookutty, Alleppy District, Kerala. The boat for Mobile Workshop is being constructed at Bilimora Gujarat.
